A-Gang (MM/MMA) Rating Challenge Coin
A-Gang (MM/MMA) Rating Challenge Coin
Auxiliary qualified personnel on board submarines and surface ships are highly trained as non-nuclear mechanics for the unglamourous life support systems. They spend many hours toiling with dirty machinery and the oily components of systems, including the sanitary system. A-Gang also constantly monitors and maintains other crucial ship systems, like hydraulics. This challenge coin represents the many hours of sacrifice and willingness to get filthy as 'greasy, turd-herdin' A-Gangers' in the United States Navy. Ask me how I know...yes, I was one.
Our SubMerch coin is a toilet seat on the front to represent a system the A-Gangers maintain / repair all too frequently. The rear of our coin has enlisted dolphins, along with the MM rating symbol and 'US Navy'. The inside of the toilet lid opens with hinges. This toilet lid is held in place with a magnet. 'US Submarine Force', 'Silent Service' and 'Dar-Mintonator' (my boat nickname plus a play on a partner's name) are also seen on the inside of the seat. The inside of the toilet bowl has simulated water, with skeletized fish having razor sharp teeth, which symbolize the A-Gangers ability to put fear aside to work on the sanitary system.
Our coin is made of zinc and quality enamels for a high gloss finish.
